At Ikon Science, we integrate geomechanical analysis with pore pressure prediction to offer a comprehensive understanding of subsurface conditions. This integration is critical for optimizing drilling programs, providing you with:
Ikon Science is excited to invite you to a special Lunch & Learn session at IMAGE 2024, where we will showcase how our advanced pore pressure and geomechanics techniques can transform your well planning and drilling operations.
Jakob is the Technical Manger for Ikon’s Wellbore Group in the Americas. He has a MSc in geology from the University of Copenhagen, Denmark. His Master’s thesis was undertaken in collaboration with STATOIL (Equinor) Norway and focused on the sedimentology and diagenesis of the Middle Jurassic Garn formation, offshore Mid-Norway. In the last 18 years Jakob has worked as a geologist/pore pressure/wellbore stability specialist in Denmark, UK, Egypt and Malaysia but is now based in Houston, USA. The work Jakob has been involved in with Ikon Science includes the following topics: regional pressure studies, well planning PG/FG and wellbore stability, pore pressure prediction from seismic velocities, generating 3D geomechanical property volumes, hydrodynamics and column height predictions and seal breach studies. Recent work has been focused on how rock physics models can be included to improve pore pressure predictions for instance taking into account variations in Vclay and TOC content. Jakob has been the main technical lead on 200 pre-drill project studies globally in areas such as: N.W. Shelf/onshore Australia, Kutai Basin and East Java Indonesia, N.W. Borneo (offshore Sarawak, Brunei and Sabah), Gulf of Thailand/Malay Basin, Cuu Long, Nam Con Son, Phu Khan basins offshore Vietnam, offshore Japan, China and offshore/onshore Pakistan and Central North Sea. Jakob has in the past 4 years mainly worked in the Gulf of Mexico (U.S./Mexico), offshore Surinam, the Permian Basin, Alberta Basin (Canada), offshore Trinidad and the North Slope Alaska. Jakob has presented at numerous technical conferences and conducted multiple theory and software training courses.
